Bar Capture

This function allows you to scan and save a bar code to send to technical support. This can assist in determining where errors are coming from after scanning bar codes in to AMS. To do this:

  1. With your cursor in the Scan Data field, scan the bar code in question. Once it has been read, you will see the text below it, and possibly a bar code type description, such as Code 39.
  2. Select Save and OK.
  3. Select Data and Send to PC to download your scanner.
  4. On your AMS computer, select Setup, Data Maintenance and AMS Support. Select the Send Problem BCR Scanned Labels button. This will create a zip file on your desktop, such as AMSHelpBCRScanLabels.zip.
  5. Rename the file extension to .piz to prevent your attachment from getting stripped from your email.
  6. If your computer has Microsoft Outlook installed, an email will automatically be created for you to send. If not, you can use another email program to send this file to amshelp@gdit.com.
